The Comedy Union is the First Black owned and operated Comedy Club in Los Angeles. Although specializing in urban stand-up comedy, The Comedy Union regularly features a broad range non urban comedy acts.
The Comedy Union first burst on the Los Angeles comedy scene in March of 2001. Owner/Operator, Enss Mitchell had a unique vision for his comedy club; to provide a place for urban talent to perform more than one night per week; to provide a place where all comics, aspiring to professional, would be able to hang out and perform to sold-out audiences; to provide a place where urban standup comics can call “home”. The Comedy Union fast became the laughter hot spot drawing lines of local and out of town patrons six nights a week.
The Comedy Union created such a buzz that the television world quickly came calling. The club hosted events such as TV-ONE auditions and eventually the filming of the network’s popular TV series, “WHO’S GOT JOKES” starring Bill Bellemy. B.E.T quickly followed with “COMIC VIEW” comedy showcases, then, HBO’S Def Comedy Jam, Comedy Central comedy showcases and more. All of this lead to the on location filming of TV-ONE’s hit Comedy series “THE FUNNY SPOT” hosted by Tony Rock, a show created by The Comedy Union owner Enss Mitchell.
Outside The Comedy Union
On any given night Comedy Union showcases comedy greats such as George Wallace, Damon Wayans, Harland Williams, Chris Tucker, Kevin Hart, Mike Epps and the list continues. Taking pride in it’s hip, warm, intimate atmosphere and customer service friendly staff, The Comedy Union boasts sold out shows weekly with a loyal core audience including satisfied repeat customers, large groups and private benefit shows.

*The world famous “JUST FOR LAUGHS” gave The Comedy Union its stamp of approval in 2004 and started hosting comedy showcases for their prestigious brand: The Montreal Comedy Festival.
*The Hollywood Reporter says: “The Comedy Union is 1 of 6 best comedy clubs in the nation.”
*Los Angeles Magazine boasts: “ The Comedy Union has arrived.”
